COOKING for 3: Spam Spag in Garlic and Olive Oil

This is the first of the Cooking for 3 series.

Why Cooking for 3?

A lot of us, knows how to cook or not, can search the internet for recipes. Whether it's a simple or complicated dish, the step-by-step and ingredients' just one click away. But if you look closely, most of those are good for 4-6 or even more people. Based on personal experience, I had a hard time adjusting just to suit my family's taste.

Another reason is that I don't like leftovers. Some food, when reheated, do not taste as great as it was, when first cooked.

This is why I've come up with this concept.

As a first installment, here's a family favorite:

Spam Spag in Garlic and Olive Oil

What you need:

200 grams Spaghetti (about a little over 1/3 of a 500 gram-pack)
3 tablespoons of Olive Oil
1 whole head of garlic (minced)
2 spoonfuls of butter
2 teaspoons of Paprika
1/2 can of Spam (square cut)
Salt and Pepper to taste

1. Cook the pasta [read the instructions on the package. Cooking time depends on the type of pasta you are using]. But as a general rule in cooking pasta, you need to fill a pot with 2/3 of water and put in about 1 tsp of oil and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil. Then add pasta.

Once cooked, drain and set aside.

2. On a different pan, pour in 3 tsp olive oil. Place the spam and cook for about 3-5 minutes then remove spam and set it aside.

3. Saute garlic and butter. Then add the spam again and paprika.

4. Place the cooked pasta onto the sauce and mix well (under low heat).

5. Add salt and pepper then serve.

It's easy right? Why not try this today and serve it as a merienda :)
