Kool Kids Ice Cream & Co

11.08.2014 Last Saturday, mommy bloggers from MBP, including Ms Lani, visited the 5-month old ice cream store in Megamall, named Kool Kids.
Kool Kids Ice Cream & Co is owned & operated by Mr. Miguel Arranaz. According to him, what sets his store apart from others is that he uses liquid nitrogen to make ice cream.
Liquid Nitrogen helps freeze the ice cream faster, compared to the conventional way  (placing it inside the freezer, wherein there's a possibility that it'll develop ice crystals due to slow process of freezing).

It was my first time to see an actual ice cream mixture being turned into mouthwatering ice cream in seconds using liquid nitrogen. I was amazed.
At that time, there are 3 favorite flavors available (because they change flavors) namely:
Nuts for Nutella - nutella infused
Mad Vanilla madagascar vanilla
Karamel Kool - salted caramel

I, personally, loved the mad vanilla flavor. It's not too sweet for me, unlike the other flavors.
Kool Kids also offers frodough, ice cream inside warm and fresh dough.
They also have dark crookies, milk choco + cookies + nuts.
Aside from food, there's also small magnetic wall with letters, where kids can play.

If you are in SM Megamall, visit them at:

Fun at Kwelavan

One of the perks of being a stay-at-home mom is I get to choose what food lands on our table. And when I'm in the mood for chicken, I only have one brand in mind - chooks to go. Here's why:
1. Chooks-to-go chicken is oven-roasted & has sweet-peppery taste. What's great about it is that, it does not rely on the sauce to make it tasty.
Pardon the lack of chicken skin as hubby ate it even before I had a chance to take a photo of our dinner :)

2. My baby, who is the pickiest eater in the family, enjoys meal time whenever I serve it.

3. Since there are hundreds of stalls & stores within the metro, it's no wonder that the nearest branch is just a stone's throw away from our house.

4. Even if my family's too tired to go out of the house, it can be delivered right at our doorstep. How? Through foodpanda. Where did I learned this? Here's where:

In the recently held Blogapalooza, Chooks-to-Go booth has this kwelavan. This is where I got the discount coupon from food panda.
Chooks-to-go Kwelavan
This is a big red booth that can accommodate one or two players. On one end of the booth, that's where the player(s) will stand while the other end, the place where the monitor's located (refer to the upper pic).

The screen will then flash the things that needed to be done.

Let me share with you the step-by-step on how it's played :)
1. To monitor the player's every move, I was advised to imitate the pose. After that, it's playtime! :)

2. I was given 3 tasks (need to be completed) to win a prize.

3. First challenge: need to smash the big egg to let the chick out.

4. Second challenge: need to run as fast as I can. But there are chookstacle, so I must avoid it by either jumping over it or make yuko

5. Final Challenge: need to slash off the chicken but avoid the catsup bottles. (It's like fruit ninja).

After the game, the lady handed me a big red umbrella, the discount coupon I mentioned at the mid part of this blog post, from food panda, a thank you card and printed copy of my kabaliwan while playing.

The next time I see this kwelavan, whether in private or social events like blogapalooza, I will definitely try it again :)

Dpop's 1st Professional Blogging Summit

10.18.2014 Professional Blogging Summit, held at the A. Venue Mall Makati City, was the first blogging summit organized by Dpop.

Dpop or Digital Pop is the brainchild of Jeoff Solas and Janette Toral, 2 of the big names in the blogging industry.

Before the start of the Summit
Arrived at A.Venue mall at around quarter to one. With me is a good friend of mine, Dianne of Memet Diaries. It took a lot of courage for me to be there since my family's going through a difficult situation right now. To take my mind off of it, even for few hours, I decided to come (and I've been waiting for this event for days now).
The Venue
It's artsy interior and relaxing color made the venue less intimadating, which is perfect for casual talk.

The Speakers
Azrael Coladilla of Azrael's Merryland.
Ross Flores del Rosario of Wazzup Pilipinas.
JayL Aquino a social media strategist for local celebrities.
Seph Cham a model & brand endorser.
Jeoff Solas a digital marketer & blogger by heart.
Sai Sayson-Montes entrepreneur & make up artist.

What I learned from the Summit...

About Blogging:
1. Should blog about your passion.
2. Copy-pasting is unethical. Need I say more?
3. Make your blog simple & fun (if applicable).
4. Filter information being shared through social media (for security).

Blogging Etiquette:
1. Be nice to everyone. (to your readers and/or bloggers you meet during events)
2. Share your knowledge and support other bloggers.
3. Respect others & act responsibly.
4. If, by any chance, committed a mistake, own it, learn from it and move on.

Blogging + Business:
1. Hard sell nowadays, is not effective when marketing a brand. It should be 20% business related & 80% relatable.
2. Need to take care of customers because if you don't, your competitors will.

And the best part of attending events...

You meet the bloggers/PR/organizers in person.

Congratulations to Dpop for a successful event.

It was indeed an awesome event. 'Til next time.

Professional Blogging Summit

Why do I blog?

I often ask this question to myself. Is it because I want to make it as a profession, passion for writing perhaps or do I simply want an online diary?

When I started this blog - Honey's Haven, back in the last quarter of 2010, I was merely documenting my life events online. As I continued writing, it became a part of my weekly routine - post a blog or two. Before I hit my first year online, I had to stop due to a pregnancy issue. I was just starting to attend events and gaining friends from the blogging community. With a heavy heart, Honey's Haven was offline for more than 2 years.

Come mid 2014, I visited my blog for I've missed it so much. Then it struck me. I can go back to blogging and this time, it's for good.

Why do I blog?
I blog because of my passion to write about food, travel and to share my experiences as a mommy/wife to others. Furthermore, I want to take my blog to the next level. The best way to achieve this is to learn from the experts. This is why I decided to participate in the upcoming Professional Blogging Summit

Blogapalooza 2014

10.11.2014 The grand Blogapalooza 2014 was held in SM Aura, Taguig. I am a first time attendee and for those who were unable to make it, let me take you on a quick tour.

At the registration area, there's someone who looked for my name in the computer and the other person wrote my name on the blogger ID.
Tada! Here's the welcome kit :D It composed of tote bag with blogapalooza logo on it, a blogger's ID and manila bulletin newspaper.

After registration, my friend took a photo of me, (giant tarp as background) as a souvenir.

Upon entering the place, we (blogger friend Dianne and I), were surprised at how big the venue was. And since there were a lot of participants (businesses) inside, let me share with you some of the booths I liked and/or enjoyed :)

1. Chooks-To-Go:
When we passed by their booth, we were greeted by a man with big smile on his face and politely asked if we want to try their kwelavan
Out of curiosity, we tried it, had fun and made a fool of ourselves. Brought home a really big and super red umbrella as a token.

Delivery service available within Metro Manila. Just dial 687-1010 or order online at

2. Chef's Noodle Korean Restaurant:
Each blogger were treated with 2 (pcs) rice rolls and 1 juice drink.
I liked the taste of the kimchi rice roll. If you're interested, they currently have branches in:
SM North - 376 5367
Atlanta Centre - 576 5054
Rob Magnolia - 656 7033
Rob Malolos - 0917 5486187

3. Chips Ahoy!:
Chips Ahoy now has 2 new flavors, mint chocolate chip and root beer float. I was kind of hesitant to try the root beer float as it sounded 'weird' when it's a flavor of a cookie but it tasted good, surprisingly :D hehe! But I've always been a fan of mint chocolate so I still go with mint chocolate chip :)
If you don't have any plans this coming weekend (10.18.2014), visit them at the SM MOA, Main Atrium and be ready to fill your eyes with exciting shows, games & a chance to win prizes & giveaways.

All you need to do is purchase a pack upon entry at the launch and you will get 3 passes :)

4. House of Lasagna:
I haven't eaten in the house of lasagna so I cannot say nor recommend any food that they offer.
However, I still want to thank them for handing out this voucher. Like me, if you want to try their food, they deliver:
San Juan (main branch) 570-8610
Greenhills Shopping Center 570-8610
Eton Centris 709-7004

1. Flawless:
In the Flawless booth, my friend and I were asked to pop a pink balloon to win a prize.
Look how cute and girly this pop-a-zit board is :) I was given 3 darts and fortunately, I was able to pop one balloon.
Here's what they gave me - flawless stem cell day & night serums. Haven't used it so I don't know if it's effective or not. But what I can tell you is that they are, for me, was the generous of them all, when it comes to loot bag giving :)

Visit them online:

2. Bioessence:
The two girls manning the booth gave out lip balm and voucher (with a choice of facial or massage) that can be used at any branch.
For 20 years (and counting), this beauty clinic prides itself with its facial services, highly trained therapists and customer care.

They even came up with its own vanity number: 0918-8-BEAUTY

3. Sample Room:
This is a sampling site that believes in the power of free product sampling. It gives you the option to try the product first before buying.

Look what I got :) Minion for my daughter.

2. Sky Cable:
The girls manning the sky booth were very friendly and even offered to take a photo of me and my friend at the sky zone

Congratulations to Sir Vince of When in Manila & Sir Anton of Our Awesome Planet for this super cool event.
