Icebergs: Dessert Anyone?

After that wonderful meal in A Veneto Pizzeria Ristorante, we went to Icebergs to satisfy our "sweet" cravings... :)

WARNING: Pictures speak louder than words :)

Desserts + Friends = Happiness :)

 :) Me and Mamu Renee

Reunion @ A Veneto Pizzeria Ristorante

Friends. They are the people who knows you in and out but love you just the same. Someone who will stand by you no matter what but gives unsolicited advice when she feels you needed one. Us? the moment that we became friends, we knew right then and there that it's definitely for keeps :)

So when we found out that one of our friends or "barkada" will come home from Canada, we immediately plan for a bongacious reunion.
But first, lemme introduce the members of the group [Bashers & Beyatch Co. Ltd.]
(from left to right)

Dianne: The "posh spice" of the group. She likes to dress up and experiment on different kinds of make-up. But when she arrived that day, she just wore plain pants and a shirt... her excuse? she just woke up :)
Mamu Bhing: The "life of the party" and the "bully". As per one of our barkadas, hers (bully someone but able to get away with it..hehe!) is a God-given talent.. hehe!
Kish: The "miss congeniality" because she knows almost all of the people in the office. She always participates in any company functions and a good mother of 3.
Mamu Renee: The "heart of the group". She never gives up on us and always have a positive outlook in life. She's also the conscience of the group when the other mamu is doing the "dirty" work. Hehe!
Donna: Me? Hmm... The "moody & straightforward person of the group". In my defense, if I feel like I need to say something, I say it. Regardless of the outcome. I am also what you are to me. If you're kind to me, I am that to you. If you're not-so-good, I will be not-so-good to you too... simple as that.. :) but as I grow older and hopefully wiser, I tend to think twice and consider feelings of others before I say something... :) I'm a work in progress, don't you think? :)
Kate: The "macho of the group" Need I say more? hehe!
Pawee: The "other she-male member of the group". True blue Emo... Emotera :)

The Pizzeria
This is the first picture taken using my camera..
then the arrival of the lady in red :)

On the table:
New York Pizza
Pizza ni Kate... (why? long story)
Seafood Parmigiana
Red sauce spaghetti with peeled mussels, squid tentacles and fish chunks, I think..
A Veneto Sample Platter
fries, potato balls, crab sticks and chicken wings with 2 types of dip

The food were okay and good for barkada feast. The best part of that afternoon was the fact that we exchanged stories and didn't care much whether we're contributing to noise pollution because of our wild laughter especially when we recall our bloopers in PS (previous company).

The day's still young so after we finished our food, we decided to hunt for the best dessert and our next stop: Icebergs.

Date Night 8.0 Angel's Pizza

On one fine afternoon, Hubby and I decided to use the Angel's Pizza VIP card (valid until 12.31.2011) that was given to me by one of my friends at work. Using this card, we're entitled to get one of these:
(1)  20% off on every pizza purchase
(2)  free medium pizza for every family pizza purchase
(3) free family pizza for every big family pizza purchase

We ended up ordering the following:
Original Hand Tossed Pizza - Extra Feast
8 toppings special. A fancy feast of pepperoni, ham, onion, chorizo, beef, mushroom, cheese and green pepper

For me, I enjoyed eating the extra feast pizza because it has all the toppings I'm looking for on a pizza: pepperoni, ham, chorizo, beef, mushroom, and cheese. Then I gave Hubby the onion and green pepper because I don't eat those... :) Funny thing is that I eat onion rings but not onion on pizza, veggies and anything that involves "guisa" :)
Spicy Tuna
Spicy tuna flakes, sweet corn, onion and green pepper

It's a different story for this spicy tuna pizza. We love tuna and spicy food but we haven't tried it as a topping on a pizza. We just got curious so we gave it a try. But that was a mistake on our part. I don't know but for me, it tasted weird. That's all I can say :)

But that didn't ruin our date.. We slouched on our sofa and did Scrubs Marathon :)

Scrubs according to wikipedia is a US series that started in 2001 and created by Bill Lawrence. We're still at Season 4 but they're currently at Season 9 [already?! whew... long way to go..hehe!] I like how the main character, Dr John "JD" Dorian do his daydreaming and his quest to finish his residency in sacred heart. Memorable episode? For me is when him, together with his best buddy Dr. Christopher Turk (surgeon) did the "eagle" dance :)

Discover Cavite: What to Crave in the Land of the Brave

Cavite: Land of the Brave

Being born and raised here, I take pride of what Cavite has to offer. Take a peek of What to Crave in the Land of the Brave:
Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park Kawit Cavite
On a weekend, if you just wanted to go out of the city and simply unwind, your first stop could be in Island Cove Kawit. Just approximately 1hr travel from Manila, this resort caters to all of your needs, from accommodation to various activities such as swimming, paintball, fishing, visiting the zoo, just to name a few.

You can start off your day with a morning swim in Oceania then eat in Fishing Village which is open at 10am. But if you want to try Cavite cuisines but on a tight budget, try Kainan sa Balsa.
Kainan sa Balsa Bacoor Cavite
Just to give you an idea on how cheap eating in Kainan sa Balsa is, imagine 2 orders of pakbet, 2 orders of chopsuey, 2 pcs of liempo, 1 grilled tuna jaw, 1 order of grilled chicken, 1 order of lechon kawali, 2 sticks of squid tentacles, 6 cups of rice and 6 12oz softdrinks only cost us 1015php. Now that's a steal for a hungry cheapskate.
Digman Original Halo Halo Bacoor Cavite
And to cap off the food cravings, make time to visit Digman's in Bacoor. Have some of their famous halo halo for dessert. What sets it apart from other halo halo establishments was the fact that all the ingredients are made from scratch. Unlike others who settle for canned and processed food, theirs are made from the heart... :) F for effort! hehe!
Foot Spa @ Azalea Spa Dasmarinas Cavite
Then to soothe tired, aching feet from all of that food hunt, try foot spa in Azalea. Located at the second floor of SM Dasmarinas, just minutes away to Tagaytay.
Sonya's Garden Restaurant, Tagaytay
Going to Cavite is not complete without experiencing the cool breeze of Tagaytay. But before you say goodbye to a great day, why not try Sonya's Garden Restaurant eat-all you-can, serve in sit down style.
Taal Vista Hotel Tagaytay
Then to spend the night away, why not book a room in Taal Vista Hotel. They have a great view of the Taal Lake and the whole place is good for relaxation and photo op :)

These are just some of the places worth visiting. But if you have other suggestions, feel free to add it here and we'll try to explore it in the near future.

List of Group Buying Sites in the Philippines

What is Group Buying?

Group buying, also known as collective buying, offers products and services at significantly reduced prices on the condition that a minimum number of buyers would make the purchase. Origins of Group buying can be traced to China where Tuángòu or team buying was executed to get discount prices from retailer when a large group of people were willing to buy the same item. In recent time, Group buying websites have emerged as a major player in online shopping business. Typically, these websites feature a deal of the day, with the deal kicking in once a set number of people agree to buy the product or service. Buyers then print off a voucher to claim their discount at the retailer. Many of the group-buying sites work by negotiating deals with local merchants and promising to deliver crowds in exchange for discounts. ~excerpts from Wikipedia.

For those of you who are wondering what groupon sites offer the best deals in the Philippines, take a look at my Top 5:

Weekend Date: Captain America and Authentic Chinese Style Massage in Big Bucket MOA

It's been a while since I posted something in this blog. Due to hectic schedule in church last July, the fact that I still have to work :), the extra curricular activities, transferring from one unit to another and fulfilling my duties as a wife, for me, is a bit overwhelming.

So to relieve the stress hubby and I both been receiving for the past weeks, we went out on a date and chillax!! :)

If you've been visiting this site, I bet you know the first mall that comes in my mind for unwinding... Mall of Asia :)

We arrived in MOA before it even opens so while waiting, we simply enjoy the cool breeze in San Miguel by the bay...walk :)
We've been here countless times during evening and this is the first time that we actually visited this part of the mall in the morning. I noticed people from all walks of life come here to exercise, do their early run or simply have a quiet time with a loved one while sitting on the break water :)
When we had enough sunshine and the mall opened already, we went straight to the Cinema ticket counter, only to find out that the first 3D screening of the movie we want to watch will start at 11:20am. Toink!
We bought the tickets anyway, then sat and chit chat to kill time in Auntie Anne's for about an hour.

When the time came, we had some take out and entered Cinema 2 to watch Captain America. I was surprised when the movie started because there'd been only 2 couples inside, including us :) we were seated close to the movie screen ['coz I'm nearsighted] and the another couple's at the balcony seats. T'was like renting the movie theater :) cool!

Quick Captain America Review: Hubby's a comic hero enthusiast and when he said that the movie should be good, I trust him. After seeing the movie, he mentioned that it's not 3D worthy but the story is a good start to really understand how The Avengers [Thor, Ironman, just to name a few] started. Friendly advice: make sure to stay after the credits because there's still like an approximate 3-minute preview of the next installment of the comic book franchise The Avengers.

After the movie, we went window shopping and practically walk for hours. Then to soothe our aching feet, we came across this foot massage and reflexology spa called Big Bucket.

Big Bucket located at the 2nd level South Parking near SM Dept Store MOA, offers the original xiamen style foot massage and reflexology. Experience the authentic chinese style foot massage by Filipino therapists trained in the ancient art of restoring harmony and balance of one's Qi (energy flow). Enlighten yourself with the traditional wisdom of Chinese therapy and dip into the simplicity of nature... in old-style wooden bucket.  ~excerpt from the flyer and edited by me :)

Services offered (Filipino Therapists):

50 mins Original Foot Massage & Reflexology (in herbal foot soak)  360php
80 mins Original Foot Massage & Reflexology (with upper body Massage & herbal foot soak) 480php
50 mins Back and Shoulder Massage 360php
Ginger Miracle Treatment (placed on knee joints to relieve ache-good for arthritis) 180php
We chose 80 mins Original Foot Massage & Reflexology (with upper body Massage & herbal foot soak) 480php each but our attendants mentioned that the massage included is for the whole body... much better :)

Then before we enter the room where all the action takes place, we were given an option to try their chinese aromatherapy in powder & gel form for only 50php each. Choices are: Tibetan Medical Footcure, Fire Dragon Ginger Cure, Gel of Ginseng, Gel of Rose, Gel of Peppermint Lotus, Gel of Fruit Essence, Gel of Precious Herbs and Milk.

Note: This is not your typical spa because they do not offer pedicure, manicure, etc. This is hardcore massage for the body, shiatsu style and rejuvenating foot massage (which is a unique experience for me because my feet were placed in a big chinese bucket, soaked in  lukewarm water then the therapist poured in Peppermint Lotus powder which then turned into gel..cool!)

The only downside of the place is the fact that there are somehow 10 massage chairs, 5 lined up on the right side and the other 5 were placed on the left part of the room. No privacy but then again, you cannot really pay so much attention to the person next to you since they use dim light and you will be treated with a satisfying massage to release stress.

This a good way to end the day...
